When Duke Street Vet set out to build a modern new clinic in Gympie, Carfax Commercial Constructions brought TSR on board to handle the commercial air conditioning. It’s a great example of how smart design and careful installation work together to create a comfortable, well controlled space for pets, owners, and staff.

The project: Building Gympie’s modern veterinary facility

Duke Street Vet’s new clinic is a big step forward for local animal care. Working with Carfax Commercial Constructions, an award winning builder in South East Queensland, TSR delivered a complete air conditioning setup designed for the unique needs of veterinary work.

Vet clinics aren’t like standard commercial spaces – every room has a different job and different temperature needs to match. Surgery rooms need cooler air under bright lights. Recovery spaces need steady warmth. Waiting rooms and consult areas have to feel calm for nervous pets and their owners.

And having good climate control helps create a smooth, stress free experience from the moment someone walks in.

Why veterinary clinics need specialised air conditioning

Temperature and airflow play a big role in animal comfort. Industry guidelines recommend consistent temperatures, fresh air circulation, humidity control, and strong filtration. These things help reduce odours, cut down airborne germs, and keep animals relaxed.

At Duke Street Vet, TSR installed an energy-efficient ducted air conditioning system with individual zone control. This lets the team adjust each space separately, from the surgery suite through to the boarding area, so every room stays at the temperature it needs to be.

Our role in the Duke Street Vet project

TSR delivered the full HVAC package for the clinic, including:

  • Designing a multi zone system
  • Installing quiet, high efficiency ducted units
  • Adding strong filtration for fur, dander, and odours
  • Managing humidity
  • Coordinating with other trades throughout the build

With tight timelines on commercial sites, good coordination matters. TSR worked closely with Carfax to make sure the installation lined up with electrical, plumbing, and fitout work. This kept the project moving and avoided delays on site.

What makes veterinary HVAC different?

Animal care facilities need more from their air conditioning than most commercial spaces. Pets shed more when they’re stressed, so filtration has to work harder. Odour control is essential for a clean, welcoming environment. And temperature accuracy is crucial, especially in surgery and recovery areas.

TSR selected equipment that handles these tougher conditions, including enhanced filtration, fans that adjust automatically for quiet, steady airflow, and zone controls to give staff simple, reliable temperature management in every room.

The TSR advantage for commercial projects

Projects like Duke Street Vet show why builders choose TSR. We look at the whole picture, how the building is used, how it’s positioned, and what each area needs day to day. This helps us design systems that run efficiently for years, not just on day one.

We’re also proud Gympie locals. When Carfax needed quick answers or on site support, we were only minutes away. That local connection makes a big difference during a busy build and after handover, when the Duke Street Vet team can reach us easily for service or support.

Why commercial builders choose TSR

Carfax chose TSR based on our long track record across schools, health facilities, industrial sites, and commercial projects throughout the Wide Bay and South Burnett regions.

We’ve been in the game since 1987. TSR began with founder Tony Stephens, who trained at Amberley Air Force Base working on large scale HVAC systems. Today, the second generation carries that experience forward with modern, energy efficient technology.

Our technicians are fully qualified, stay up to date with the latest equipment, and hold the licences needed to design, install, commission, and service complex commercial systems. Builders know they can count on us to get the job done properly and on schedule, every time.

The importance of ongoing maintenance

Once the clinic opened, maintenance became the next step. Like any commercial setup, the air conditioning at Duke Street Vet will need regular servicing to stay reliable, because with animals in care every day, downtime simply isn’t an option.

TSR provides 24/7 service support for emergencies and scheduled maintenance programs that help prevent breakdowns, lower running costs, and extend equipment life.

Building partnerships that last

The Duke Street Vet project is a great example of the work TSR specialises in. Whether it’s a clinic, school, supermarket, or industrial site, our approach stays the same: we listen, design, install, and support long after the build is complete.

Builders across Gympie, the Wide Bay, and South Burnett regions rely on TSR for dependable, long lasting commercial air conditioning solutions backed by decades of local experience.
